Firstly social media ease the communication system that contributes to building relationships. Nowadays more than 90 percent people are using smart phones and at the meantime 45 percent of them surf the internet every day. For example students utilize social media for study, Businessmen conduct virtual meeting and send documents in attachments, and so social networking sites benefit societies in maintaining globally. Populaces benefit from several viewpoints when using electronic social platforms such as education, communication, workplace, marketing, entertainment and money more.
The most critical disadvantage of social media is using them for cyber bullying, hacking and addiction. Social media platforms to bully other also known as cyber bulling. A study shows that around 50 percent of adolescents were bullied for cyber bulling in Bangladesh until 2016. Most youngsters got bullied on Instagram following, Facebook, snap chat and YouTube. Social media most alarming negative impact on society is addiction. Spending more than 3 hours on social media per day puts adolescents at a higher risk for mental health problems. 13% of kids ages 12-17 report depression and 32% report anxiety. 25% of 18 to 25-year-olds report mental illness.
